Regulatory Engineer, Amazon Leo
Amazon is launching a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites through its initiative Amazon Leo, aimed at providing broadband connectivity to underserved communities. The Regulatory Engineer will work on complex regulatory projects, collaborate with legal experts, and develop licensing applications to support the initiative's regulatory compliance and technology alignment.

Responsibilities
Work on complex regulatory projects dealing with satellite and spectrum regulations
Collaborate with a global team of public policy and legal experts to develop regulatory and policy advocacy strategies
Partner with the global licensing team to develop satellite and earth station license applications, and produce technical analyses in support of those applications
Develop detailed analysis and simulation products and strategies to enable Amazon Leo’s use of radio frequency spectrum and satellite orbits
Work closely with satellite and system design teams to conduct system design trade studies, and to ensure the Amazon Leo technology and regulatory roadmaps are aligned
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in science, engineering, math or related discipline, or equivalent work experience
Strong analytical, problem solving and communication skills
Strong project management skills
2+ years of experience in satellite communications, telecommunications, and/or radio frequency management
Foundational knowledge of communications satellite architectures, link budgets, and orbital dynamics and the ITU Radio Regulations and U.S. satellite regulations
Ability to effectively communicate solutions to complex technical problems
Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum
Preferred
5+ years experience performing data or system analysis using Python and/or Matlab
5+ years experience analyzing satellite communications systems in non-geostationary orbit
5+ years experience developing link budgets, analyzing the potential for harmful interference, and optimizing RF system performance
Experience in the application of the international Radio Regulations and U.S. satellite regulations
