Zoox is developing the first ground-up, fully autonomous vehicle fleet and the supporting ecosystem required to bring this technology to market. They are seeking a safety-critical software engineer to join their Collision Avoidance System Motion planning team, responsible for designing and implementing real-time software systems to enhance motion planning and control systems.

Responsibilities

Design and implement real-time software systems in C++ to build our Collision Avoidance Motion Planning System with low latency algorithm and improve the robustness of the software
Lead the technical direction of software projects, define architecture, design patterns, and best practices
Design, develop, and review complex software components, ensure code quality and maintainability
Provide guidance and mentorship to junior and mid-level software engineers
Identify and resolve complex technical challenges, analyze data to identify potential issues

Required

MS or higher degree in related field with 6 years of industry experience
Strong expertise in modern C++ development and building scalable, robust systems
Have experience of real-time system, especially latency handling
Must be a team player with good communication skills and be able to guide the team member through software architecture design, experience with mentoring team members
Past experience of Autonomous driving or robotics industry

Preferred

Experience with writing functional requirements driven code and familiar with formal verification & validation techniques
Familiarity with Hazard and Risk Assessment (HARA) and/or Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA)
Experience with existing Advanced Driver-Assistance System (ADAS) technologies, including adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, lane-following, automated lane changing
