Responsibilities
Hiring and retaining diverse and talented engineers
Mentoring engineers & growing future technical leaders
Working cross-functionally to translate business goals into the team’s roadmap
Nurturing engineering excellence via culture and process
Providing meaningful input to technical designs based on an in depth understanding of our systems & services
Ensuring the query service uptime and performance SLO/SLAs are met
Working with customers to improve their query performance
Qualification
Required
Has prior experience building, maintaining & scaling reliable, high-volume distributed systems
Can reason about ambiguous problems from first principles and propose creative solutions
Has strong CS fundamentals (e.g., data structures, algorithms, and distributed systems)
Contributes to attracting and retaining engineers through technical leadership, collaboration, and/or enablement
Has a track record of mentoring and growing engineers who work with you. You make engineers around you more productive
Preferred
Prior engineering management experience, especially on teams that build and operate high volume, stateful distributed systems in SaaS environments
Prior Experience with database technologies, including their internal design and implementation
Prior Experience with multi-tenant systems, with focus on reliability, performance, isolation and security
