Project Engineer
Garver is an employee-owned engineering firm seeking a Project Engineer to join their Transportation Team in Atlanta, GA. The role involves performing engineering design of roadway projects, preparing deliverable packages, and mentoring younger engineers while supporting senior project management during the bid and construction phases.

Responsibilities
Performing engineering design of roadway projects for state and local DOTs including horizontal and vertical geometry, corridor modeling including roadside design, pavement design, drainage systems, utility coordination, signing and marking, and erosion and sedimentation control
Preparing plans, specifications, cost estimates, reports, and calculations necessary for a complete deliverable package to the client
Coordinating design with other disciplines and subconsultants
Interacting with the design team, clients, and project stakeholders
Mentoring and training younger engineers on roadway design
Supporting the Senior Project Engineer during Bid Phase and Construction including answering Requests for Information (RFI), preparing addenda and plan revisions
Representing Garver at industry events and in professional organizations
Qualification
Required
Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering or Civil Engineering Technology from an ABET accredited program
Registered Engineer In Training (EIT) or Professional Engineer (PE) in GA or ability to obtain within 1 year
Two (2) to five (5) years of progressive transportation design experience in Georgia that includes technical knowledge of roadway design with sufficient knowledge of the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) Green Book, the AASHTO Roadside Design Guide, the Manual Uniform Traffic Control Device (MUTCD), GDOT Design Policy Manual, GDOT Standards, Details, and Specifications, and the Department of Justice ADA Standards for Accessible Design (ADAAG/PROWAG) Guidelines
Proficiency with Bentley products, particularly Microstation and OpenRoads Designer
Knowledgeable in the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) Plan Development Process (PDP), Plan Presentation Guide (PPG), and Electronic Design Guidelines (EDG)
Good interpersonal skills and a team-first mentality
Effective written and verbal communication skills
MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) proficiency
Preferred
Previous experience as a consultant working with GDOT and county/municipal clients on transportation projects
Thorough understanding of the GDOT Environmental Procedures Manual (EPM), GDOT Utility Accommodation Policy, GDOT ROW acquisition procedures, GDOT Locally Administered Projects (LAP), and GDOT Office of Materials and Testing (OMAT) Geotechnical Manual
OpenRoads Designer 3D modeling and plan production proficiency in the GDOT workspace
Georgia Soil and Water Conservation Commission (GSWCC) Level II Certification
