CT Scan Technologist - per diem
Guthrie Clinic is a non-profit, integrated healthcare organization offering a variety of specialties through a regional office network. They are seeking a CT Scan Technologist to perform technical procedures in the Computerized Axial Tomography department, ensuring patient care and safety during scans.

Responsibilities
Performs CT procedures
Initiate the scanning procedure at the proper anatomical level
Checks prescription/request, provisional diagnosis, hospital chart and patient identification
Explains the procedure to the patient, means of communication during scan and procedure to follow, if emergency arises during scanning procedure
Advises the patient of the possibility and/or necessity of an intravenous contrast injection and the precautions or contra indications involved with such an injection
Prepares room and equipment according to anatomical area to be scanned, per request and history
Selects correct computer protocol and initiate scan maintaining visual and/or audible communication with the patient during the scanning procedure
Operates Electronic Health record, scan equipment, contrast injectors and PACs systems
Performs patient care in CT area
Transfers the patient safely to the scanner couch, being especially cognizant of catheters, intravenous bottles, respiration aids, areas of recent trauma and patient level of consciousness or mental state
Immobilizes, packs and centers patient to scanner gantry at appropriate anatomical level
Prepares medium and patient for intravenous injection of contrast material in amount prescribed by radiologist
Monitors patient's condition during and post injection and must be aware of reaction and/or distress signals associated with the injection of contrast materials
Approaches and solicits the cooperation of the psychiatric patient, i.e., manic depressive, paranoid schizophrenic, mental retardation and senility
Monitors scanner systems for program errors, correction of same or notification of repair facility
Prepares appropriate images and other material to be sent to referring physicians
Monitors scan equipment in order to avoid equipment failure
Performs 'warm up' of scanner, including daily QA procedures
Observes all appropriate radiation safety measures for patients and personnel
Complete understanding of the functionality of the EPIC and PACs computer systems as it relates to your area
Qualification
Required
Associates degree with additional skills training (certification)
Two years
ARRT(R) Certification required
Minimum of one year experience
Experience in CT and/or other subspecialty area recommended
Ability to perform CT procedures
Ability to explain procedures to patients
Ability to advise patients on intravenous contrast injection
Ability to prepare room and equipment for scanning
Ability to select correct computer protocol and initiate scan
Ability to operate Electronic Health record, scan equipment, contrast injectors and PACs systems
Ability to perform patient care in CT area
Ability to monitor patient's condition during and post injection
Ability to approach and solicit cooperation of psychiatric patients
Ability to monitor scanner systems for program errors
Ability to observe all appropriate radiation safety measures
Complete understanding of the functionality of the EPIC and PACs computer systems
