Sr. Registered Polysomnographic Technologist

The Sr. Registered Polysomnographic Technologist is responsible for operating polysomnographic equipment and conducting sleep studies to provide accurate diagnoses for patients with sleep disorders, while ensuring adherence to safety and privacy protocols.

Responsibilities

Verifies all prescribed orders. Clarifies orders as necessary using appropriate communication channels as authorized within scope of license or work permit. Operates equipment, sets up techniques, sterile procedure and supplies needed to perform various special procedures
Performs polysomnograms and titrations according to department protocol as authorized within the scope of license or work permit. Prepares and analyze readings for interpretation by a physician. Monitors patient respiration, heart and brain activity during procedure. Operates equipment to record sleep and awake physiology readings of patient. Orders supplies and maintains equipment
Completes appropriate paperwork. Files polysomnogram studies and reports
Evaluates the effectiveness of sleep test/interventions against expected outcomes. Uses assessment data to develop and document a sleep test plan. Educates and trains patients on the use of Home Sleep Testing (HST) equipment, as necessary. Supports and trains new employees

Required

Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) or Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) or Registered Sleep Technologist (RST) or Certified Pulmonary Function Technologist (CPFT) or Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) or Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) or Basic Life Support (BLS OR HS-BLS OR RQIBLS) certification
Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) or Registered Sleep Technologist (RST) or National Certified Respiratory Therapist (NBRC-CRT) or National Registered Respiratory Therapist (NBRC-RRT) or Certified Pulmonary Function Technologist (CPFT)
Basic Life Support (BLS) or Healthstream Basic Life Support (HS-BLS) or RQIBLS or Heartsaver CPR (CPR)
State Respiratory Therapist (RCP/RRT)

Preferred

High School Education/GED or equivalent
Associate's/Technical Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience
Two years' technical experience
One year's sleep lab/EEG experience
Experience with EEG amplifiers and filters
