CCP LANL NNSA Visual Examination Expert (VEE)
Salado Isolation Mining Contractors, LLC (SIMCO) is managing the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) and is seeking a qualified individual to serve as a Central Characterization Program Visual Examination Expert. The role involves performing visual examinations of nuclear waste, ensuring compliance with safety standards, and leading a team in problem-solving and report creation.

Responsibilities
Obtain qualifications as a CCP Visual Examination Expert
Perform visual examination of nuclear waste
Verify the physical form of the waste is approved and prohibited items are excluded
Interact with and lead visual examination operators and other SIMCO teams in problem solving of off normal conditions, new packaging configurations, and unfamiliar waste
Create, review and approve Visual Examination Batch Data Reports with an emphasis on attention to detail
Responsible for the overall direction and implementation of Visual Examination of Transuramic (TRU) and TRU-mixed waste at the site
Ensure VE DQOs are met
Assist in the development of new VEOs
Familiar with onsite work locations and site POCs
Have expert knowledge of the waste expected to be encountered at the facility
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree, or
Associate's degree with four (4) years of working experience, or
High School Diploma or Equivalency with eight (8) years of working experience is required
Must hold or have previously held qualifications as a CCP VEE
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Q clearance and HRP Certification
Demonstrated proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite is mandatory
Must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in limited circumstances
Preferred
Demonstrated working knowledge of CCP TRU Waste Characterization activities and Visual Examination Process is a plus
