Long Wall Company is focused on advancing missile defense technology for the U.S. and its allies. They are looking for a Fluid Components Engineer who will take total ownership of aerospace components, ensuring they operate under extreme conditions while mentoring less experienced engineers.

Responsibilities

Total ownership of Long Wall components, from ideation through design, manufacturing, qualification, and field support

Ensuring launch vehicle, interceptor, and ground system design utilizing components properly consider the environmental and performance bounds of those components

Mentorship of less experienced engineers and coworkers, both within and without the components group, to ensure all have the correct toolset for design and use of components at Long Wall

Required

B.S. in any engineering discipline from an accredited university

5+ years of industry experience in a related design or development role

Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time

Ability to use a computer to complete assignments

Ability to communicate with individuals and groups in person, by phone and telepresence

Ability to pick up to 12lbs

US person status (including US citizens, U.S. permanent residents, individuals granted U.S. asylum status, or individuals admitted in U.S. refugee status) is a required qualification for this position

Preferred

Experience with aerospace component technologies, including spring-energized seals, bearings, and force balances, as well as test and qualification best practices

Proficiency in CAD design software (e.g., NX, CATIA, CREO/Pro-E)

Strong analytical capability using hand calculations and finite element analysis tools (e.g., ANSYS)

Familiarity with solenoid coil design processes and software (e.g. Maxwell)

Firm understanding of manufacturing processes, GD&T, and DFM principles

Ability to develop scripts in Python or MATLAB for automation and analysis

Strong understanding of compressible/incompressible flow dynamics and thermodynamics

Demonstrated ability to write and execute test procedures for complex hardware operations
