Asplundh Engineering Services (AES) provides engineering, design, planning, systems integration, and testing services across the U.S. The Senior Electrical Engineer will lead a team to create custom engineering solutions, ensuring compliance with industry standards and delivering quality results for clients.

Responsibilities

Creating and reviewing Protection & Control settings designs
Coordination studies
Short circuit studies using short circuit models
Event Analysis
Creating and reviewing HMI (Human-Machine Interface) settings
Creating and reviewing RTU settings designs
Designing and configuring operating characteristics of managed switches and LANs
Reviewing current industry best practices to ensure compliance with cyber security requirements
Leading, planning, and coordinating projects with limited supervision
Understanding and delivering results based on client-specific standards and requirements
Training and developing junior personnel
Leading project teams and interfacing with the customer to deliver a quality product by the scheduled delivery date
Field support including troubleshooting, testing, and setup
Act as the OE (Owner’s Engineer) responsible for reviewing designs and supplying the design team with the requested information to complete a project

Required

8-12 years of experience in relay/protection engineering or related industry required
B.S. in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology
Must be 18 years of age or older
Programming knowledge or experience with protection relays and other substation equipment
Strong knowledge of engineering theory, practices, and procedures
Experience in power protection, relay design, and planning, or substation design and telecom integration
Experience with substation relays and equipment such as SEL, GE, Beckwith, electromechanical relays, Ruggedcom switches, and Cimplicity HMIs

Preferred

Registered PE (Professional Engineer) preferred
IEC 61850/Goose experience is preferred
