Responsibilities

Perform transportation assignments under the direction of a licensed engineer with clear and specific objectives and increasing technical difficulty
Assist with the preparation of transportation projects, reports, and documentation including plans development, horizontal and vertical alignment design, grading plans, temporary traffic control plans, and other items as needed
Perform occasional tasks to cross-train in multiple design disciplines such as drainage/stormwater design, planning, traffic, and others
Application of basic techniques, theories, precepts and practices in small and large transportation engineering projects
Occasionally required to gather offsite field data accompanied by a professional engineer
Other duties as assigned

Required

Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related field
Certified EI - Passed Fundamentals of Engineering Exam (FE)
Strong oral and written communication skills
Ability to multi-task and work in a team-based environment
Design software skills including Microstation or AutoCAD
Light to moderate travel in efforts to collect offsite field data
Ability to work in various weather conditions may be required
Ability to work extra hours, including evenings and weekends, when needed as the project schedule demands

Preferred

0-4 years of experience in Transportation design
Knowledge of FDOT design manuals such as FDM and Standard Plans Index
FDOT or local municipal project experience
OpenRoads Designer experience
