Resident Engineer

Responsibilities

Monitor project progress against schedule and budget
Identify and manage potential risks
Review contractor submittals, change orders and recommend approvals
Oversee quality control and safety compliance
Reviews project activities with client and contractor’s field supervision resolving disputes and other daily issues
Reviews daily inspection reports and other project documentation
Facilitate communication between the owner, design team, and contractors
Conduct regular site visits and progress meetings
Analyze project data to identify cost-saving opportunities
Provide recommendations for project adjustments as needed
Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures
Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs

Required

Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or equivalent experience
Minimum of 10 years of relevant construction experience
Experience leading projects and inspectors
Experience with utility construction, building construction and/or basic mechanical equipment
A demonstrated ability to read and completely understand contract documents
Deep understanding of construction practices, building codes, and project delivery methods
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with diverse stakeholders
Proven experience in construction management, preferably with a focus on owner representation
Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies

Preferred

Experience working as an Resident Engineer on underground utility replacement and building construction
Professional Engineer (PE) / Licensed Civil Engineer or Certified Construction Manager (CCM) preferred
