Responsibilities

Cultivates ongoing communication within the department and with customers to encourage continuous improvement. Plans, schedules & leads Configurator projects and works as a consultant to Engineering, Product Management, and other departments during product launches. Works on special corporate projects, and gives direction to Sr. Systems Specialists and Systems Specialist as necessary
Tests the quality and functionality of the Configuration systems and processes and determines the best way to modify the systems to meet users’ needs. Acts as the key point person having expert knowledge of the system details, and is able to refer team members to the appropriate system documentation
Assures all ordering tools are synchronized and consistent, and updates the Configuration systems as required
Fully understands and maintains the work instructions and training materials, and compiles internal documentation to track training. Stays current on Configuration technology through continuing education, constantly seeking opportunities to use these tools to improve the Configuration department
Independently builds and maintains the product structure, and programs the configuration rules when a Product Change Authorization (PCA) is received, which includes, but is not limited to user interface, product features, options, rules, constraints, generic Bill of Materials (BOMs), generic routings, generic item data, generic pricing, and order acknowledgement data. Also reviews (& writes when necessary) PCAs based on product knowledge to ensure all of the information needed to configure a product is available
Writes Configurator Change Requests (CCRs) to outline work required for each change made, sets up and maintains the product features, options, descriptions, generic pricing, generic bills of materials, generic routing and generic items necessary for the product Configurator, and maintains the configuration system data to accommodate customer service through verification of titles, identifiers, prices, and product descriptions shown on order acknowledgements
Sets up and maintains user interface for all A-dec models in the customer order entry portal as required in order to ensure correct product configuration
Sets up and maintains the translator that converts features and options into a file format appropriate to create visual models for use in customer visual packets and for Engineering models used for wood part planning and production
