Responsibilities

Willingly chooses to learn and become proficient in other department job duties
Willingly participates in the training and mentoring of students during their rotations and/or externships
Shares in maintaining supplies with Central Supply to ensure adequate inventory level by stocking exam rooms with items needed for procedures or patient care. Informs Central Supply for needed supplies
Performs other duties as assigned, i.e., taking call, covering extra shifts, covering holidays, adjusting schedules as needed
Uses Cerner to correctly document appropriate exam indications, correct start/end times, and identification of second technologists which ensures accurate departmental statistics according to hospital policies
Displays teamwork by providing help where it is needed and assists with the management of the department work flow to ensure the timely completion of exams
Completes CT examinations in a timely manner, but with continued quality and continuity of patient care
Willingly participates in the training of new employees and continues to assist employees who have recently been trained
Ability to apply clinical imaging protocols and positioning techniques including administering appropriate oral and Intravenous (IV) contrast specific to the patient
Performs quality exams by utilizing appropriate adult protocols for scanning by reviewing each exam for technical accuracy, by administering appropriate oral and IV contrast, by using proper sterile technique, and by relaying pertinent information to the appropriate supervisor or radiologist
Cleans and maintains all equipment as per hospital standards. Reporting faulty equipment to appropriate personnel
Provides appropriate care specific to the age of the patient to ensure understanding and a comfort level of treatment as outlined in the 'Population Specific Criteria'
Actively looking for ways to help people optimize the customer experience
Maintains awareness of ongoing exams and willingly seeks the opportunity to provide patient care and assist physicians and coworkers as needed

Qualification

CT Technologist experienceARRT certification in RadiographyARRT certification in Computed TomographyVenipuncture skillsBasic Life Support certificationRadiographer licenseOther modalitiesPrioritize workloadFlexibility in schedule

Required

Graduate of accredited Radiologic Technology program
1-2 years of experience working as a CT Technologist, or
Successful completion of a CT Externship through an approved CT school, or
Board certified as a Radiologic Technologist, (ARRT) required
American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (RT.R.ARRT) certification in Radiography required
American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (RT.CT.ARRT) certification in Computed Tomography required
Technologists who have completed clinical training and are Computed Tomography (CT) Board eligible will be considered with the understanding that the advanced board certification is required within 12 months of hire, or:
New technologists who require clinical training to become Computed Tomography (CT) board eligible will be considered with the understanding that the advanced board certification is required within 12 months at the completion of clinical training
Current Medical Radiographer license for work state (RAD.NE or RAD.IA) required
Strong interpersonal skills necessary to communicate effectively with hospital personnel, patients, co-workers, and the public
Required to perform venipuncture for injections and IV management for power injector use
Knowledge of other modalities or willing to gain knowledge of other modalities as requested for the potential of cross-training opportunities
Proficient with working with patients of all ages (infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adult and elderly.)
Ability to perform numerous tasks at once, prioritize workload and organize workflow
Must be able follow established Universal Standard and Radiation Safety precautions
Position requires flexibility to accommodate fluctuation in daily schedule, including but not limited to overtime, irregular hours and on-call responsibilities
Medium Work - Exerting up to 50 pounds of force

Preferred

Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) strongly preferred at time of hire, required within 3 months of hire
