Responsibilities

Prepares draft contracts, endorsements, and other documents for clients and markets
Researches regulations and other industry requirements impacting reinsurance contracts, as needed
Discusses contract issues with broker teams
Facilitates the brokers’ negotiation of contract language and liaises with clients and markets, as needed
Maintains contract and correspondence files, in accordance with corporate guidelines
Works with contracts administrative staff, brokers, reinsurers and clients to ensure timely execution of reinsurance contracts
Provides document review, training, and oversight for brokers
Documents the status and abstracts the content of contracts in the firm’s document tracking systems

Required

Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university and experience in a contract writing department of a reinsurance broker, reinsurance underwriter, or ceding company is required
Minimum 3 years reinsurance contract drafting work experience
Must be proficient in the Microsoft Office products
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret reinsurance contracts for various lines and programs is essential
Must understand and assimilate industry developments (such as the emergence of new lines of insurance, reinsurance structures, regulations, business processes, etc.) as they arise
Excellent writing skills required. Must be a skilled and an effective negotiator
Ability to complete continuing education requirements as needed
Ability to attend company, department, and team meetings as required, including industry training sessions
Ability to comply with all company policies and procedures, proactively protecting confidentiality of client and company information
Ability to efficiently organize work and manage time to meet deadlines
Ability to work outside of normal business hours as needed
Legally able to work in the United States

Preferred

JD or other legal degree preferred, but not required
Experience with document management and workflow systems would be a plus
