Responsibilities
Defend employers in PAGA, wage-and-hour, wrongful termination, discrimination, harassment, and retaliation cases
Take a lead role in all stages of litigation, from investigation to trial, including discovery, depositions, dispositive motions, mediation, and trial strategy
Provide counsel to clients on California Labor Code compliance and litigation risk
Represent clients in both individual and representative employment actions, including class actions and PAGA representative claims
Draft high-quality legal documents, including demurrers, MSJs, oppositions, mediation briefs, and trial motions
Collaborate with managing attorneys and associates to ensure efficient case strategy and execution
Stay current on changes in California employment law, especially developments in PAGA enforcement and defense
Qualification
Required
8+ years of experience in labor and employment litigation in California
Significant experience defending PAGA claims (please detail in your application)
Licensed and in good standing with the California State Bar
Proven track record in civil litigation, including successful motion practice, depositions, and courtroom appearances
Excellent analytical, research, and writing skills
Strong communication and interpersonal skills for managing client relationships
Highly organized and able to manage a remote workload with autonomy and accountability
