Responsibilities
Represent California public school districts in employment, civil rights, and general education-related litigation
Lead defense efforts in administrative hearings, arbitrations, mediations, and civil jury trials
Oversee all aspects of case management, including discovery, depositions, dispositive motions, trial preparation, and post-trial proceedings
Provide strategic counsel to clients on complex education law issues, labor disputes, and risk mitigation
Draft high-quality legal documents, including briefs, motions, and correspondence
Serve as a subject matter expert for internal and external stakeholders on education law and public entity defense
Collaborate with other firm attorneys, school district administrators, and insurance representatives
Qualification
Required
10+ years of litigation experience, including significant trial experience in public education law
Active California State Bar license
Deep knowledge of California Education Code, Title IX, employee discipline, civil rights defense, and government tort claims
Demonstrated expertise representing school districts or public agencies in employment litigation and administrative hearings
Strong trial advocacy skills—please include the number of school district-related trials you have defended through verdict
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work independently in a remote environment while staying responsive and collaborative
