Responsibilities

Prepare commissioning plans, specifications and checklists based on Burns & McDonnell standards
Review design, equipment submittals, operation and maintenance manual, start-up reports, checklists, and training programs for commissioning plans
Assist with training operation and maintenance personnel to review operating modes, sequence of operations and specifics of equipment, operations, and maintenance of commissioning plans
Document commissioning results and performance shortfalls. Collaborate with owner, operation and maintenance, design and construction personnel in recommending remedial measures
Plan, schedule, and perform work for small to mid-size projects and support project teams for large projects and programs
Perform site visits to coordinate commissioning, evaluate new and existing systems, witness equipment start-up and testing. Coordinate operation and maintenance training
Assist with the development and refinement of methodologies, tools, and standards in support of an evolving commissioning practice
Participate in meetings with owner, operation and maintenance, design and construction personnel to understand project goals and schedule to ensure commissioning is properly coordinated

Required

BS in Mechanical, Electrical or Architectural Engineering from an ABET accredited university
A minimum of 3 years of direct commissioning or related experience in a variety of facility systems and subsystems including controls, mechanical, electrical, life safety and building envelope systems
Strong facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization and problem solving skills
Highly effective communicator with clear and concise writing and presentation skills
High level of attention to detail
Proficient computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite)
Understanding of site safety procedures, including electrical safety
Must have the ability to obtain and maintain access authorization to facilities and data of existing and potential clients, including, but not limited to DOE, aerospace, military, food and consumer product manufacturers, pharmaceutical, laboratories, and others necessary to sell and complete work
Completion of/or ability to obtain OSHA 8 hour Safety Training Course

Preferred

Certified Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Licensed Professional Engineer (PE)
Experience with different types of stand-alone monitoring equipment including flow meters, temperature loggers, electrical meters, and others
Understanding and familiarity with DOE-2, eQUEST, Energy Pro, and other modeling software
Specific experience in ASHRAE level energy audits and with the development of energy savings calculations from retro-fits and energy measures from retro-commissioning
Experience in combined heat and power/cogeneration, central utility plants, data centers, healthcare facilities, laboratories, water/wastewater facilities, controls, building envelope, TAB, NETA electrical testing, renewable energy and other specialties
