Research Associate II

Responsibilities
Responsible for supporting laboratory-based research applying the latest scientific knowledge towards the solution of a broad range of theoretical and practical problems in the areas of trauma, hemorrhage and resuscitation, immunomodulation, directed energy health effects, and craniofacial health and trauma
Assists Government with administrative tasks, including preparation and revision of Performance Work Statements (PWS), IACUC and IRB protocols, proposals, manuscripts, report and presentation editing and review
Ability to coordinate the implementation of research studies, including regulatory requirements, maintenance of study records and all activities associated with internal and external audits
Assists Government in ordering and maintaining inventory of supplies related to research under contract. All ordering is conducted by a government employee
Aids Government in Market research for equipment and equipment maintenance services requirements related to research under contract
Ensures IACUC/IRB requirements are followed
Modifies and plans research experiment schedules, procedures, and tests
Ability to research and collect data through complex laboratory/scientific experiments, techniques, and procedures, literature research, or through other means for research projects
Assists in the maintenance of a clean and operational lab space
Reports on status of research activities
Routes administrative paperwork related to scientific products
Maintains data and records securely, including the use of an assigned laboratory notebook
Oversees the work of entry-level contract personnel
Writes and edits material for publication and presentation
Oversees and instructs contract personnel on technical procedures, equipment operation, and laboratory maintenance
Schedules and coordinates research activities
Qualification
Required
Master's Degree plus two (2) years' experience or a Bachelor's degree plus five (5) years' full time research experience in related field
Knowledge of complex laboratory procedures
Ability to meet deadlines of projects
Good communication and analytical skills
US Citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance, including background check and drug screening
All staff required to enter the labs shall maintain current certification in American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS); American Heart Association Healthcare Provider Course; American Red Cross CPR (Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation); or equivalent
Lifting: Requires lifting materials up to 10 lbs
Ability to stand or sit at a computer for prolonged periods
