As a Senior Software Engineer on the Customer Identity Engineering team, you will work on improving and maintaining the core systems that authenticate and authorize users across our platforms, collaborating with data scientists to build advanced detections to prevent Auth-N / Auth-Z abuse.

Responsibilities
Design, build, and maintain scalable authentication and authorization services
Implement security features to protect against common vulnerabilities (e.g. OWASP top 10)
Collaborate with data science teams to integrate machine learning models aimed at identifying and preventing suspicious login activity
Monitor and improve the performance of identity-related services
Investigate and troubleshoot issues related to account security, user identity, and authentication failures
Drive improvements in security protocols, performance optimization, and user experience
Keep up to date with the latest security and identity management trends and apply that knowledge to your work
Qualification
Required
5+ years of experience in software engineering, ideally with a focus on authentication, authorization, and identity services
Proficiency in backend development using languages such as Java, C#, or Python
Experience working with security protocols such as OAuth, SAML, OpenID Connect, and WebAuthN
Familiarity with building and maintaining scalable, distributed systems
Experience working with databases, both relational (e.g., MSSQL, MySQL, PostgreSQL) and NoSQL (e.g., DynamoDB, Cassandra)
Understanding foundational concepts of machine learning (Supervised / Unsupervised) and the ability to collaborate with data scientists on implementations
Worldclass problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically about security, reliability, and performance
Preferred
Working Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure), hands-on experience building and owning a cloud optimized service
Expert experience with containerization and hosting technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)
Familiarity with monitoring and alerting tools such as Prometheus / Grafana
Previous experience leveraging Machine Learning to augment authentication services to identify fraudulent/ anonymous logins
