Submarine Engineering Technician (Skillbridge Intern) - 22211
Mission Technologies, a division of HII, specializes in national defense solutions and advanced technologies. The SkillBridge intern will train as a Submarine Engineering Technician, gaining real-world experience and supporting various engineering tasks at the Newport News Shipyard.
Responsibilities
Train as an Submarine Engineering Technician
Gather, maintain, format, compile, and manipulate technical data
Produce engineering documentation, reports, drawings (flow charts, block diagrams, and schematics)
Perform detailed mathematical calculations using established formulas
Conduct tests and record data to assist with engineering evaluation or analysis
Develop a good understanding of the E03 department in Newport News Shipyard
Solve engineering problems via Electronic Inspection Reports (EIRs)
Coordinate with Tradesmen to rectify submarine deficiencies
Utilize the Joint Fleet Maintenance Manual and Tag-out User’s Manual to ensure worker safety and the standard of quality is maintained
Qualification
Required
Active-Duty Military ONLY within final 180 days of active-duty service
Applications accepted within final 12 months of active-duty service
Navy Torpedoman with at least 5 years of experience, or other Submarine maintenance related military occupational specialty or rate
