Elections Coordinator (Special Project Worker)
Travis County is seeking an Elections Coordinator to support various activities during an election cycle. The role involves coordinating seasonal workers, assisting with voter support, and ensuring compliance with election laws and procedures.

Responsibilities
Coordinates job duties for seasonal workers associated with elections and provides support to one or more programs in the Elections Division, including: Ballot by Mail, Call Center, Election Worker Training, Elections Site Coordination, Personnel, and Voting Equipment & Operations programs
Assists with receiving and processing applications for Ballot by Mail, provides voter support, and assists as needed and under the direction of a manager the duties of the Early Voting Ballot Board, and Signature Verification Committee
Provides support in Elections Call Center as needed
Assists in development of training materials for Election Workers for both Early Voting and Election Day
Facilitates election worker training, in small and large group settings, both online and in-person, with strict adherence to curriculum standards and legal requirements
Works with temporary workers in configuring voting equipment and/or electronic poll books to be used by Election workers in the field
Assists other coordinators and managers in recruiting, assigning, and onboarding election workers using an election management system
Responsible for identifying and coordinating polling place sites used during Early Voting and Election Day, including compliance with ADA standards
Assists in coordinating site contracts and delivery logistics under supervision of a manager
Communicates with and responds to general requests for information from voters, county employees, and the public by phone, email, and in-person
May be required to provide in person and telephonic voter support in office as well as basic office administrative duties. Provides exemplary customer service to voters, the public, and stakeholders, including providing consistent information in regard to state and federal laws
Performs other job-related duties as assigned
Responsibilities include moving and packaging equipment, assisting in the warehouse, and handling inventory allocation, maintenance, and troubleshooting
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Business Management, Government, Political Science, Public Administration or a directly related field AND one (1) year of increasingly responsible elections program or project management experience
Valid Texas Driver's License
Knowledge of office and supervision practices and techniques
Knowledge of office management principles and practices
Knowledge of computers and computer applications
Knowledge of management and supervisory principles, practices and techniques
Knowledge of Federal, State and Local applicable laws; Texas Election Code
Knowledge of election procedures and forms
Knowledge of standard practices in area of assignment
Skill in use of election equipment utilized in area of assignment
Skill in supervising others, including team building
Skill in problem solving and decision-making
Skill in both verbal and written communication
Ability to communicate effectively
Ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team
Ability to learn the laws and regulations of an election set forth in the Election Code
Ability to train, coordinate, and review the work of seasonal employees
Ability to manage time well and perform multiple tasks, and organize diverse activities
Ability to perform in a stressful environment, while maintaining a professional manner
Ability to operate a variety of office equipment and a computer including word processing, spreadsheets and databases
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other County employees and officials and general public
Ability to actively and with a positive demeanor participate in team building, community outreach, and other public facing activities during work hours
Physical requirements include lifting/carrying minimum of 35 pounds, and may be required to lift/carry up to 100 pounds, visual acuity, speech and hearing, hand and eye coordination and manual dexterity, necessary to operate a computer, monitor, keyboard, printer, fax machine, copier, adding machine, typewriter and basic office equipment, vision to monitor, standing, sitting, walking, climbing stairs, bending, stooping, crouching, kneeling, pushing, pulling, reaching, repetitive motion, twisting, balancing, repetitive motion, client/customer contact, squatting, occasional indoor/outdoor activities to perform the essential functions
