Head of Recovery/SUD Programming

The Head of Recovery/SUD Programming will oversee and evolve the substance use disorder strategy, ensuring clinical excellence and financial performance while advancing client outcomes.

Responsibilities
Lead all commercial strategy efforts related to SUD programming
Distinguish Charlie Health’s SUD programming from other providers through strategic communications and external positioning
Collaborate closely with the MAT (Medication Assisted Treatment) and Psychiatry teams to ensure seamless, integrated care
Maintain a real-time dashboard of all patients receiving SUD services; proactively identify risks and intervene to improve care
Interact regularly with Charlie Health’s data science team to leverage machine learning models that predict patient outcomes and clinical risk factors
Use insights from predictive analytics to drive early interventions, clinical improvements, and enhanced patient retention
Conduct patient interviews post-discharge to gather feedback and drive program improvements
Carry a small caseload to stay closely connected to the patient and clinician experience
Conduct case consultations when any SUD patient is struggling or at risk of poor outcomes
Partner with Clinical Directors and Supervisors to ensure high-quality, consistent SUD care across all teams
Review, edit, and continuously improve SUD group curriculum to ensure it is evidence-based, trauma-informed, and engaging
Design and deliver a specialized training pathway for all clinicians working with SUD patients
Attend treatment teams and group supervisions to provide ongoing training and guidance around SUD best practices
Own and drive performance against SUD-specific KPIs including:
Revenue growth from SUD program expansion
Patient satisfaction (NPS and experience surveys)
Attendance rates and treatment completion rates
Measurement-based care outcomes (e.g., PHQ-9, GAD-7, substance use indicators)
Qualification
Required
Doctorate degree (PhD, PsyD, DSW) required
Independent clinical licensure required (e.g., psychologist, LCSW, LMFT, LPC)
5+ years direct clinical experience treating substance use disorders
7-10+ years experience leading or designing SUD programs
Expertise in evidence-based SUD treatment modalities (e.g., Motivational Interviewing, CBT for SUD, Contingency Management, Harm Reduction, MAT integration)
Experience working with a wide range of ages, including children, teens, young adults, and adults clients
Strong familiarity with measurement-based care, patient engagement strategies, and clinical outcomes management
Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, remote environment
Passion for clinical excellence, innovation, and improving patient care at scale
Work authorized in the United States and native or bilingual English proficiency
Familiarity with and willingness to use cloud-based communication software—Google Suite, Slack, Zoom, Dropbox, Salesforce–in addition to EMR and survey software on a daily basis
Preferred
Familiarity with machine learning, predictive analytics, and working collaboratively with data science teams preferred
