Responsibilities

Plan and prepare detailed drawings by applying standardized drawing techniques from detailed sketches, verbal instructions and notes under the direction of an engineer
Collect initial drawings, calculations and design ideas from engineers, and combine relevant data into coherent and complete initial design models for review and modification
Apply company, client, and project drafting standards and procedures to draft control schematics, wiring diagrams and equipment connection diagrams
Coordinate with engineers and project managers to understand project requirements and verify design details according to company standards and best practices
Provide a range of drawing production work including problem analysis, layout, detailing, and drafting on projects of substantial variety and complexity
Perform drafting activities with designers and drafters in other disciplines
Communicate and correspond with internal design resources and external clients and personnel
Execute design changes and project drawing revisions
Maintain CAD proficiency and work toward mastering current CAD systems
Performs other duties as assigned

Required

Bachelor of Science in Structural Engineering or related degree from an ABET accredited program
Bachelor of Science in Structural or related Engineering Technology from an ABET accredited program and successful completion of Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam
Master of Science degree in Structural Engineering may be substituted for 1 year experience
Minimum 3 years of structural engineering experience, consulting preferred
Strong knowledge in standard engineering techniques and procedures
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment and demonstrated critical thinking skills
Proficient in standard engineering techniques and procedures
Strong computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite)
Strong computer skills include structural analysis programs (e.g., RISA 3D), AutoCAD, ETABS, SAFE and BIM (e.g., Revit and Tekla)
Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization and problem-solving skills

Preferred

Successful completion (i.e.passing) FE or EIT preferred
