Responsibilities
Lead the end-to-end technical delivery of the New Core Platform in the Consumer Banking – Deposits domain
Design and develop integration patterns, APIs, and services to enable communication between core platform, channels, enterprise middleware, data lake and downstream systems
Collaborate with FIS and other platform vendors to understand capabilities, SDKs, event models, and service orchestration layers
Translate business use cases into scalable, secure, and performant technical designs across: Deposit account lifecycle management (open, maintain, close), Interest, fees, overdrafts, and transaction posting, Product factory configurations and core services, Regulatory compliance and reporting
Drive the adoption of event-driven architecture, microservices, and real-time processing patterns where applicable
Provide leadership and mentoring to the development team; enforce coding standards, quality gates, and DevOps practices
Partner with architects, QA, DevOps, and PMO to align technical solutions with business outcomes
Qualification
Required
15+ years of software engineering experience in banking or financial services, with at least 5+ years in a technical leadership role
Strong experience working on core banking systems — FIS Modern Banking, FIS Systematics, Temenos, Thought machine, Pismo or similar
Demonstrated experience leading core banking modernization or migration projects (e.g., greenfield core implementation, legacy decommissioning, or coexistence strategies)
Deep understanding of Consumer Banking/Small Business Banking products and processes, especially Deposits (checking, savings, CDs, interest-bearing accounts, and transaction postings)
Hands-on experience with the New Core Platform's technical stack, including: Java 11+, Spring Boot, RESTful services, Confluent Kafka (event streaming and integration), OpenShift, Kubernetes, Docker (containerization and orchestration), API Gateway & Mediation (Apigee, WSO2 API Manager or vendor-provided gateways), PostgreSQL, Oracle, or other relational databases, CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI, Jenkins), DevOps & automation, Observability tools (Splunk, Prometheus, Grafana, Dynatrace, etc.)
Familiarity with FIS modern core banking concepts such as product factories, service orchestration, event notifications, and platform APIs is a strong plus
Solid grasp of domain-driven design, integration patterns, and transactional consistency in distributed systems
Solid presentation skills on presenting to senior leadership, cross platform teams, architectural diagrams
Preferred
Experience in a leadership role in at least one large-scale core banking transformation program
Exposure to working with vendor SaaS platforms or hybrid deployments and no code/low code architecture
Familiarity with data migration tooling and cutover strategies from legacy platforms (FIS Systematics or similar)
Knowledge of security best practices, authentication and regulatory compliance frameworks
