Staff Auditor
Castro & Company is a dedicated Audit, Advisory and Accounting CPA firm headquartered in Alexandria, Virginia. They are seeking a Staff Auditor to perform planning, fieldwork, and reporting procedures for various audits while providing support to Federal clients. Responsibilities
Perform planning, fieldwork, and reporting procedures for examinations, performance audits, financial statement audits, audits of the Schedule of Costs Incurred, desk reviews, grant reviews or agreed-upon procedure assignments
Perform assigned engagement procedures such as testing of the auditee’s records for various transactions to include payroll, cash disbursement, grants, fund balance with treasury, revenue, etc
Check reports, records, ledgers, and other documents against invoices, receipts, payroll slips, and other source documents. Verify appropriateness of and determine that transactions have been properly recorded
Review and test general ledger amounts, financial statements, internal controls, and accounting system reports. Participate in meetings with clients and document the meeting minutes
Perform reconciliations between the general ledger and information submitted to the Federal Government. Compile and analyze auditee’s data using automated tools
Develop, and update workpapers using automated tools
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
Great written and verbal communication skills
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Strong attention to detail
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, and Word)
Security Clearance: Must be able to pass a basic government suitability check (US Citizenship required)
Preferred
CPA or 150 Credit hours to sit for CPA exam
Preferred experience or familiarity in Audits (financial, performance, recovery, transportation, and contract audits)
Standards (Generally Accepted Government Auditing Standards (GAGAS) and non-GAGAS)
Compliance assessments (financial statements, financial information, and internal controls)
Organizational performance improvement (accounting system design, financial statement preparation, budget development and accounting advisory services)
