Maintenance Engineer

FOX Television Stations operates 29 full power broadcast television stations across the U.S. and is seeking a full-time Maintenance Engineer for KTBC Fox 7 in Austin, TX. The Maintenance Engineer will be responsible for installing, operating, and maintaining broadcast equipment, ensuring high-quality service and collaboration with the engineering team.

Responsibilities

Provide paramount customer service and collaboration with other departments
Collaborate with an astute engineering team to design, install, test, and document new systems and equipment as assigned
Manage and maintain data networks while conforming to our Information Security Team's strict policies
Perform minor repairs and maintenance to all systems supporting broadcast operations for live and production events
Accurately troubleshoot and repair technical faults quickly to minimize loss of service
Perform software and hardware updates, tests, and installation as required
Provide technical assistance and training to the technical operating staff on day-to-day operations and workflows
Practice, teach, and encourage best engineering standards and practices
Perform other duties as assigned

Required

Applicant must have the ability to solve complex problems and the capacity to concentrate for long periods
Must have a solid working knowledge of broadcast and network systems
Applicant must be able to work in a proactive, not a reactive, environment
Candidate must be able to work in a team collaborative environment and be a self-starter without direct supervision
Must be flexible with changes in workflows, a clear communicator, detail-oriented, and highly organized
Applicant must be able to climb ladders up to 20 feet, lift 40 pounds, and work in tight spaces
Must be able to work flexible hours
Must be able to work fully onsite, either at the station's Studio or Transmitter
A valid driver's license and a good driving record are required to drive company vehicles
Must pass a background check

Preferred

Experience in RF and fiber optic workflows is desirable
Applicants with prior experience in television, radio broadcast engineering, or similar technical disciplines are preferred
An associate degree with an emphasis in Engineering/ IT is preferred, or at least four years of equivalent industry experience is needed
