Responsibilities

You will assign work to members based on priorities, consideration of difficulty and requirements of assignments, and capabilities
You will develop and present recommendations on environmental issues, such as Environmental Business Line administrative matters, environmental budgets, higher level environmental programs policy, and various region-wide responsibilities
You will provide advice, counsel, or provide guidance to employees on both work and administrative matters
You will report to the Public Works Officer regarding assignments, program objectives and customer requirements

Required

Must be a US Citizen
Must be determined suitable for federal employment
Must participate in the direct deposit pay program

This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites
You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time
You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty
You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver's license
Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics
You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101
You will be required to complete ethics orientation within three months of appointment and submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-450, within 30 days of appointment
Work is sedentary except during regular and recurring field investigations, where there is considerable walking, bending, and climbing to visit industrial areas for inspections or project coordination
Majority of the work is in an office setting; however, during visits to sites and facilities, there may be exposure to hazardous substances, noise, inclement weather, fumes and difficult terrain
If the position is filled as an Environmental Professional Engineer (PE), registration is required
Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector
Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Overseeing the environmental compliance and conservation program for an organization; 2) Reviewing military construction projects and operational/training programs to ensure regulatory compliance; and 3) Managing environmental programs by planning, scheduling, budgeting, and coordinating cost effective solutions
Applicants must possess: Degree in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position
OR Courses equivalent to a major, plus appropriate experience or additional education
Degree in physical science, engineering, or mathematics that included 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science such as mechanics, dynamics, properties of materials, and electronics
or education equivalent to one of the majors shown that included at least 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science, plus appropriate experience or additional education
