Pharmacist Intern

Responsibilities
Patient Care: Accurately assists the pharmacist in providing excellent patient care. This includes pulling meds for new orders, answering phones, following through on requests from nursing or other departments, charging/crediting. Performs accurate and efficient cart exchange duties including medication crediting
Performs sterile compounding per USP 797 guidelines and non-sterile compounding per USP 795 guidelines. Universal precautions to be utilized when compounding or otherwise manipulating biologic products. Performs daily, monthly, and ad hoc cleaning/disinfection of designated IV room areas using MyMichigan Health-approved cleaning solutions
Customer Service: Provides excellent customer service in all areas of pharmacy
Restocking: Restocking and checking expiration dates accurately
Pick up shifts: Assisting other pharmacy staff and picking up shifts
Other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
High School Diploma or GED
Completion of two (2) years Pre-Pharmacy in college and is accepted into an accredited School of Pharmacy
Interpersonal skills needed to communicate successfully with individuals and groups and interact with people at all levels to communicate ideas and concepts in a clear and understandable manner
Demonstrate competency in Microsoft® Windows
Ability to handle multiple tasks, get along with others, work independently, regular and predictable attendance and ability to stay awake
Overall vision and hearing is necessary with or without assisted device(s)
Frequently required to sit/stand/walk for long periods of time
May require frequent postural changes such as stooping, kneeling or crouching
Some exposure to blood borne pathogens and other potentially infectious material
Must follow MyMichigan Health bloodborne pathogen and TB testing as required
Overall dexterity is required including handling, reaching, grasping, fingering and feeling
May require repetition of these movements on a regular to frequent basis
Physical Demand Level: Light. Must be able to occasionally (0-33% of the workday) lift or carry 11-20 lbs., frequently (34-66% of the workday) 10 lbs. and or Walk/Stand/Push/Pull of Arm/Leg controls
