Responsibilities
Develop and execute technology-focused research and development strategies and plans
Drive the development of new products that enable execution of the global business strategy
Drive the development of software systems and tools that support world-class services delivery
Effectively support existing products and customer service activities
Lead, direct and organize activities of the R&D group including planning, staffing, budgeting, priority setting, resource allocation, project management, product design, documentation, design support and pre-production quality assurance
Manage diverse, simultaneous projects of varying complexities
Develop a deep understanding of the clinical applications, patient needs, and prescriber requirements to drive the development of industry-leading technologies and products
Work closely with Marketing, Product Management, Sales, Support Services, and Reimbursement to develop and implement new product portfolio and applied research / technology portfolio strategies and tactical plans, ensuring the process is focused on customer needs and time-to-market
Serve as a key member of the management team that sets the company’s strategic direction
Formulate long-term objectives and standards of performance for the department
Assure that department achieves objectives and project completion within budget and time frame
Be a student of current clinical and industry trends, ensuring that the company maintains and expands its technology leadership position
Competent in complex electronic hardware and software systems design, implementation, validation, and support
Demonstrated strong oral and written communication skills
Qualification
Required
Minimum BS required
10+ years of industry experience required
A minimum of 15 years of progressively responsible engineering experience, with at least 5 years at the senior management level required
Experience in the development of complex electronic and software systems required
Experience with medical device development including regulatory requirements required
Demonstrated ability to deal with rapid growth and a complex, evolving market
Excellent analytical, strategic thinking and problem solving skills. Ability to define and employ quantitative/statistical assessment approaches
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Demonstrated team building and leadership skills
Effective team player who is also capable of working independently with strong self-motivation
