Responsibilities

Applies basic technical knowledge of federal drug and alcohol testing regulations to conduct compliance and enforcement investigations and inspections throughout the United States and its territories to determine aviation industry compliance with the drug and alcohol testing regulations
Performs inspection assignments under close direction of a manager, team coordinator or inspection lead
Assists lead inspector in the preparation of technical reports on findings of noncompliance, use critical thinking to determine the root cause of the noncompliance, identify appropriate corrective action(s) required to resolve the noncompliance and conduct risk analysis to determine the appropriate action to address the noncompliance detected
Contacts are primarily internal to the organizational unit with a manager and other employees to share information, provide data or written analyses, and to discuss the status of assignments
Work is reviewed frequently during assignments and at completion for all aspects of quality
Work activities typically support the work of other employees and contribute to activities of the organizational unit

Required

US Citizenship is required
Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959
Must submit an SF50 (See Required Documents)
A one-year probationary period may be required
Successful completion of a security investigation may be required
At least three (3) years of progressively responsible general work experience demonstrating the ability to analyze problems to identify factors, gather pertinent data/information, recognize problems and/or solutions, plan and organize work and effective communication
At least one (1) year of experience must be equivalent to the FG/GS-4 level work in the administrative, professional, technical, investigative or comparable work area
Successful completion of a full 4 year course of study in any field leading to a bachelor's degree, gained from an accredited college or university
Combination education and experience may be qualifying for this position
If your qualifications for this position are based on education, you must submit a transcript of your college coursework by the closing date of the announcement
Schools must be accredited by an accredited institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education
If selected, official transcripts will be required prior to employment

Preferred

Experience preparing and reviewing drug and alcohol investigations/inspection reports
Experience applying Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR), Part 120 and Title 49 CFR Part 40, drug and alcohol testing regulations
