Responsibilities
Maintain vehicle functional condition by listening to operator complaints (described by a manager); conducting inspections; diagnosing functionality issues; repairing diagnosed mechanical failures in a timely manner; repairing multiple system issues including electrical, cooling, braking, HVAC, steering and other system malfunctions; replacing parts and components
Understand and use standard diagnostic tools such as code readers and shop software programs to maintain vehicle records by recording service and repairs
Make any and all repairs necessary to vehicles including the removal and replacement of major components
Keep shop equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs
Contain costs by evaluating service and parts options
Keep supplies ready by inventorying stock, placing orders, and verifying receipt
Other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
3 years of hands-on experience diagnosing and repairing used vehicles in a commercial service facility including working in a dispatcher type system and ordering parts when necessary
A track record of dependable diagnostic capability – references required
Must provide own tools
Work in a minimally climate-controlled facility daily
Capable of customer interaction when necessary
Valid driver's license with good driving record
Preferred
National Institute of Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certifications preferred
