Responsibilities

Perform a variety of engineering and design activities involving power plant upgrades and/or new power plant projects

Plan, organize, and prepare modifications

Independently evaluate, select, and use standards, techniques, procedures and criteria for technical projects

Develop specifications and/or modification packages

Define design scope

Develop design criteria documents

Identify and select equipment and instruments

Develop system functionality

Manage budget, scope schedule and quality associated with the designated work assignment with minimal guidance and technical oversight

Devise new approaches to technical problems with a broad knowledge of precedents in the industry

Interface and coordinate with multiple design disciplines as well as with the customer’s representatives

Work on project teams with other engineers to evaluate conditions as well as proposed modifications which will improve plant performance, safety, and reliability

Review and check designs, drawings and data prepared by other engineers

Manage project teams and provide mentoring oversight to entry level and junior engineers

Required

Extensive experience with power plant systems, components, and structures related to their engineering discipline

Ability to plan, organize, and prepare modifications

Capability to independently evaluate, select, and use standards, techniques, procedures and criteria for technical projects

Familiarity with codes and standards applicable to the nuclear power industry

Possession of a working knowledge of applicable NRC regulations

Experience in developing specifications and/or modification packages

Ability to define design scope and develop design criteria documents

Experience in identifying and selecting equipment and instruments

Ability to develop system functionality

Experience in managing budget, scope schedule and quality associated with designated work assignments

Ability to devise new approaches to technical problems with a broad knowledge of precedents in the industry

Experience interfacing and coordinating with multiple design disciplines and customer representatives

Ability to work on project teams with other engineers to evaluate conditions and proposed modifications

Experience in reviewing and checking designs, drawings and data prepared by other engineers

Experience in managing project teams and providing mentoring oversight to entry level and junior engineers
