Senior Manufacturing Engineer, Mechanical Assembly, Second Shift

The Senior Manufacturing Engineer will oversee primary structure assembly work, champion process improvements, and collaborate with engineers and production teams to drive progress in manufacturing operations.

Responsibilities

Cover the shop floor for all primary structure work center assembly work, clearing barriers and keeping production moving
Champion process improvements across multiple work centers to improve assembly operations and incorporate feedback and learnings from the first Terran R build into future rocket builds
Collaborate closely with a diverse team of engineers specializing in design, manufacturing, and reliability, as well as internal production teams and external vendors, leveraging their collective expertise to drive progress
Create work instructions, specifications, and best practices across multiple high-fidelity processes
Help standardize processes across the manufacturing team
Provide Design for Manufacturing feedback to structures teams during the development phase and through the first prototype and flight builds

Required

Bachelor's degree in manufacturing, aeronautical, mechanical engineering, or other engineering discipline
5+ years progressive and related experience required
Strong history of supporting complicated assembly builds and capable of making risk decisions on a regular basis to disposition issues during build and keep production moving
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interface with engineering and manufacturing groups to understand process constraints and provide design inputs for improved manufacturability
Strong engineering fundamentals in statics, mechanics of materials, process improvement/factory design, fastening and joining, machining
Expert knowledge of common drilling and trim ops, other manufacturing processes, tools, inspection methods and GD&T
Highly self-motivated and able to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment

Preferred

Direct experience with drill, trim and fastening operations for aerospace products
New product introduction of an aerospace hardware system into a manufacturing, test, and production system with proven success
Experience in managing projects in a fast-paced environment
