Echo Technologist
Catholic Health is an integrated system encompassing some of the region’s finest health and human services agencies. The Echo Technologist performs M-Mode and Cardiac Doppler echocardiogram studies and conducts qualitative and quantitative analysis of data.

Responsibilities
Provides explanation to the patient regarding test being performed
Utilizes two identifiers (Name and Date of Birth) to identify the patient
Preps patients for echocardiogram
Performs transthoracic echocardiographic examinations to make determinations as to which modalities, techniques, and approaches should be applied, (i.e. M-Mod 2-Dimensional, Doppler, stress echo, specific patient maneuvers, specific acoustical window approaches.)
Evaluates Echocardiographic findings, recognize normal and complex congenital and pathologic in order to obtain adequate diagnostic data for physician interpretation
Calculates echocardiograph/Doppler data obtained from the following examination
M Mode quantification at the level of aorta, mitral valve, and left ventricle
Calculates ejection fraction from M-mode and/or 2-D study
Doppler calculation of valve gradients
Doppler quantification of inefficiency degrees
Requests MD and RN administration of echo contrast when appropriate
Maintains current educational status, including review of education tapes and conferences. Maintains CE credits. Mentors with assigned physician preceptor to constantly monitor and enhance clinical skills
Enters data into clinical system and transmits data
Maintains, cleans and fully equipped and stocked examination area for patient
Additional duties, as assigned
Qualification
Required
Graduate of an Accredited Ultrasound program
Basic computer skills
Minimum 2 years of experience working with patients
Standing, lifting, pushing and pulling when needed
Preferred
ARDMS certification preferred
