Position requires certification in CPR, and training in first aid, medical, and security requirements and Procedures
Must possess maturity and judgment, and be capable of handling emergency situations common in dealing with small children in a child development center environment
Complete training in the observation of symptoms of illness is desirable
All federal employees are required to have direct deposit
This position has been identified as having 'regular contact with children'
An FBI fingerprint and State Criminal History Repository (SCHR) Check will be completed on any person selected for this position
Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower broadband NK-02, equivalent to the next to lower grade GS-05 or equivalent in the Federal Service
Specialized experience must include knowledge of a body of standardized rules, procedures or operations of child care center and to perform administrative and clerical duties in support of the Child and Youth Center (CDC) and Youth Program (YP)
Also, to perform or explain a range of procedures and requirements in support of the child care center
Performing a wide variety of specialized clerical and office automation support such as file maintenance, reservations, receiving calls, greeting customers, handling funds, monitoring sign in/out procedures, time cards, cash handling/fee collection, client contract preparation, orientations and various administrative support functions
Knowledge of various office automation software programs, tools and techniques to support office operations and produce a variety of documents such as letters, reports and spreadsheets
Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university
One year of full-time academic study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in a college or university, or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business, secretarial, or technical school
A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position, only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours (i.e., beyond the second year) is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement
One full academic year of study (30 semester hours) beyond the second year is equivalent to 6 months of specialized experience
Knowledge of Child Development Center or Youth programs and procedures to perform duties such as provide information about CDC programs, provide customer support, prepare reports, etc
Knowledge of common clerical and administrative practices such as performing regular office routines, maintaining records, preparing purchase orders and ordering of supplies and equipment
Knowledge of filing systems and procedures, the materials covering the activities of the childcare centers and established resource planning procedures in the childcare environment
Skill in effectively communicating with a diverse population with various social, national, cultural, and occupational backgrounds
Ability to learn money handling techniques and analyze fee collection procedures
Ability to utilize several types of software to accomplish a variety of office needs
