Prepares equipment, instruments, supplies, operating room and patients to ensure sterile field

Coordinates preparation or disposal of specimens, etc

Assists with inventory of sterile supplies

May assist in patient transport

Qualification

Surgical Technology ProgramBasic Life Support CertificationSterile techniqueInstrumentation knowledgeInterpersonal skills

Required

High School Diploma or Equivalent

Completion of an Accredited Surgical Technology Program OR completion of a military or hospital-based training program with 5 years acute care Surgical Tech experience

Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) with the American Heart Association or American Red Cross

Knowledge of sterile technique, instrumentation, equipment, and sterile field set-up

Interpersonal skills
