Responsibilities
The Dean of Industrial Technologies is a key leadership position responsible to the Chief Academic Officer for all matters related to academics, budgetary and administrative affairs of the Industrial Technologies Division. The Division consists of Mechatronics, HVAC, Precision Machining, Industrial Electricity, Welding, Automotive, and Diesel departments. The Dean is charged with fostering a positive environment and providing vision and leadership needed to propel the mission of Spartanburg Community College
Workforce Development: Responsible for ensuring the successful delivery of relevant curriculum instruction under the Workforce Development Division of Spartanburg Community College. Responsible for ensuring successful collaboration between faculty and WD staff to meet community needs through the development of programs, coursework, and curriculum. Collect and maintain employment placement data. Create and coordinate information sessions for all noncredit healthcare programs. Actively participate in institutional and divisional committees, advisory boards, and community service activities
Leadership: Lead division efforts to promote retention, program completion, and continuous quality improvement activities. Ensure that all courses and programs are assessed appropriately and that changes to the curriculum (credit and non-credit) are based on assessment data and/or industry needs. Ensure broad faculty/staff participation in the assessment process. Ensure that the division is compliant with all relevant local, state, federal, and SACSCOC requirements. Ensure that programs are compliant with program-specific accreditation requirements as applicable. Develop and foster relationships to ensure the needs of the local public health industries are recognized and courses/programs/training are developed and delivered to meet those needs. Manage divisional resources to include budget preparation, approval of operational and personnel expenditures and equipment purchases consistent with divisional priorities; ensure efficient usage of resources and equipment
Personnel: Supervise and evaluate faculty and staff within the Public Health Division. Make recommendations for hiring permanent and adjunct faculty and staff; recommend appropriate compensation and salary changes; ensure performance management and evaluation of faculty and staff in compliance with EPMS/FPMS procedures and timelines. Ensure educational activities are available to maintain professional growth for faculty and staff. Supervise direct reports to ensure successful completion of SCC goals and initiatives. Monitor changes within the Technology division and recommend training, in-service, and other related educational activities to maintain professional growth for faculty and staff
Curriculum: Conduct periodic reviews of existing courses/programs; make recommendations for potential new programs and/or changes in existing programs. Increase course/program/training offerings to meet the demands of the industry. Monitor programs and enrollment trends to ensure effective use of labor and other allocated resources. Develop and submit the division’s courses/programs/training schedules according to published timelines and demand/needs of the industry. Set course schedules and program requirements for WD and work to revamp structure and accommodate growing interest. Facilitate and manage clinical sites and databases, and certification exams
Advising/Registration: Oversee student advising and registration activities within the division. Address and resolve student complaints and grievances as applicable. Assist in the recruitment of students for the programs
Qualification
Required
Master's degree
Six years of related experience
Preferred
Minimum of 5 years of business/industry experience
Experience in a supervisory capacity
Prior teaching experience at the college level
