Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain Kafka-based data streaming applications
Optimize Kafka performance and troubleshoot issues
Familiarity with schema registry design, Kafka streams implementation
Strong REST API development
Analyzes user needs and develop software solutions
Experience with Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS) and Infrastructure as Code
Develop scalable web-based data visualization and analytic platforms using Node.js, JavaScript, scalable databases (Elasticsearch, PostgreSQL), Docker, Python
Operate in an agile development environment using DevSecOps and CI/CD practices
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and deliver solutions
Coordinates with Product Designer and Product Manager to translate 'user stories' into deliverable code
Conduct and participate in design reviews, sprint demonstrations, and after-action reviews
Write, review, and execute comprehensive test procedures
Deploy applications into development/staging/production environments
Ensures security of software and systems
Peer-review and comment on software code and write/review/update software design and user-focused documentation (e.g., User Manuals)

Required

B.S. in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline (A combination of education and demonstrated experience will be considered in lieu of a degree)
Minimum 9 years software engineering experience (including demonstrated data engineering)
Experience with DevSecOps and CI/CD practices
Experience developing in a Linux environment (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu)
Experience using scripting languages such as bash and shell scripting
Experience with agile project management using tools such as Jira and Confluence and configuration management tools such as Gitlab
Experience with container-based systems such as Docker and Kubernetes
Experience with scripting languages such as Node.js, JavaScript (TypeScript), and Python
Experience with YAML and JSON formats
Excellent software testing skills
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment
U.S. Citizenship and active DoD Secret clearance

Preferred

SAFe Agile training such as Agile Software Engineer, SAFe for Teams, or SAFe for Government
Experience with automation languages such as Puppet, Ansible, and Terraform
Experience with data parsers and data ingest methodologies
Knowledge of analytics
Web development experience with a focus on UI/UX
Knowledge of the Big Data Platform (BDP)
AI/ML experience
