Trauma Program Manager

Responsibilities
Support and adhere to hospital policies, procedures, philosophy and mission
Responsible for the organization of services and systems necessary for a multidisciplinary approach to providing care
Assumes day to day responsibility for the process and performance improvement activities as they relate to nursing and ancillary personnel
Serve as a liaison to administration, and represent the trauma program on various hospital and community committees to enhance and foster optimal trauma care
Participate in the development and planning of goals and objectives related to trauma care
Coordinate with the Medical Director, hospital administration and clinicians to assess the need for policies, procedures and protocols related to the care of trauma patients
Supervise adherence to hospital policies and procedures and standards through observation, medical record review, staff feedbacks and other appropriate sources
Plan, coordinate, and evaluate trauma-related educational programs for the nursing staff
Monitor nurse compliance with the educational requirements of the trauma program
Seek and pursue opportunities for trauma-related educational programs for hospital staff
Implement program initiatives
Monitor and maintain compliance with statewide drama systems regulatory requirements and coordinate preparation for ACS designation site review
Develop and foster collaborative relationships with all hospital departments to facilitate and support quality trauma care
Participate in state and regional trauma activities, enhancing the development of a regional trauma system to monitor national and statewide trends in trauma care
Respond to trauma team activations that occur during work hours; Function and whatever role necessary to assist the team in the care of a trauma patient
Serve as a resource for the hospital staff regarding trauma care issues
Qualification
Required
Currently licensed as a registered nurse or EMT/Paramedic in New York
Bachelor's Degree
Five (5) years clinical experience in trauma/emergency care
Ability to establish and maintain effective interpersonal relationships
Ability to accept and implement change
Ability to problem solve and make decisions
Possession of critical thinking, analytical, teaching/coaching and researching skills
Current knowledge of Medical/Surgical and Emergency nursing practice, Pediatric and Trauma protocols with strong analytical skills
Practice reflects customer service excellence including excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with staff, leaders and senior management
Proficient in computer knowledge of Windows, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Trauma One
Current BLS, ACLS and PALS provider certification from the American Heart Association required
TNCC certification required; 16 hours of Trauma-related CE annually
