Budget Officer
USAJOBS is seeking a Budget Officer for the United States Attorney's Office (USAO). The role involves planning and administering budget and financial management activities, providing recommendations to improve budget proposals, and overseeing subordinate staff.

Responsibilities
Planning, formulating, justifying, implementing, and administering budget and financial management activities
Providing positive recommendations and alternative approaches to improve program plans, budget proposals, costs of operations, and program accomplishments
Preparing budget justifications for recommended allocation levels, particularly deviations from initial office submissions
Plans work to be accomplished by subordinates, sets goals and priorities, and prepares schedules for completion of work
Assigns work to subordinates based on difficulty of assignments and staff capabilities
Evaluates work performance of subordinates
Provides technical advice and assistance to resolve problems referred by staff
Interviews candidates for positions in unit and makes tentative selections subject to approval by the United States Attorney
Qualification
Required
You must be a U.S. Citizen or National
Initial appointment is conditioned upon a satisfactory pre-employment adjudication. This includes fingerprint, credit and tax checks, and drug testing. Continued employment is subject to a favorable adjudication of a background investigation
You must be registered for Selective Service, if applicable
If selected, you may be required to complete a one year probationary period
Time-in-Grade: Federal employees must meet time-in-grade requirements within 30 days after the closing date of this announcement
You must meet all qualification and eligibility requirements within 30 days after the closing date of this announcement and before placement in the position
GS-13: One full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level
Specialized experience is defined as experience as financial management expert and developing, planning, implementing, and administering the full spectrum of budget and financial management activities
Examples of specialized experience include: analyzing and evaluating the effectiveness of financial management programs, systems, and operations in meeting established goals and objectives; developing financial policies to facilitate achievement of program goals and objectives; providing recommendations and alternative approaches to improve program plans, budget proposals, costs of operations, and program accomplishments; and providing technical guidance, advice, and assistance to senior management in the identification of future resource and budget requirements
