Electrical Engineering Designer
Penn State University is seeking an Electrical Engineering Designer to join their Mechanical and Electrical Design and Drafting team at the Applied Research Laboratory. The role involves providing ECAD design support, creating technical documentation, and collaborating with R&D engineers while ensuring compliance with project management standards.

Responsibilities
Assist engineering programs needing electrical (ECAD) design support through collaboration with R&D Engineers and Engineering Support Specialists
Create schematics, printed wiring boards, circuit card assemblies, bills of materials, and other documentation using accepted methods and techniques
Utilize ARL’s Project Lifecycle Management (PLM) software (Teamcenter) to properly archive and perform configuration management of all design documentation
Facilitate work intake, estimation, and execution; reporting to senior management as requested
Participate in, and occasionally lead meetings and design reviews
Maintain all required compliance training related to business systems, safety, and security
Qualification
Required
Experience in ECAD software to develop schematics, printed wiring boards, circuit card assemblies, library parts, and bill of materials
Past success in leading or supervising teams
Working knowledge of printed wiring board construction, fabrication, and assembly
Past success with project deliverables and team tracking
Associate Degree
8+ years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience accepted for Engineering Designer - Principal Professional
6+ years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience accepted for Engineering Designer - Senior Professional
Ability to obtain a government security clearance
Must be a U.S. citizen to apply
Successful completion of background check(s) in accordance with University policies
Successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen
Preferred
Altium ECAD software
Siemens Teamcenter PLM software
Microsoft Office Product Suite – Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project, Visio
Significant knowledge of electrical systems such as power electronics, analog, digital, RF, and EMI
IPC CID and / or CID+ certification, or general knowledge of IPC standards
Current eligibility for access to classified information at the Secret level or higher and may be subject to a government background investigation to upgrade clearance eligibility, if required
