Responsibilities

Represent Midea in interactions with regulatory and government agencies; actively participate in relevant industry organizations and working groups, such as AHAM, DOE, HVI, and others. Monitor and assess the impact of emerging regulations, ensuring timely and accurate communication across the organization
Support product planning by researching and interpreting federal and state regulatory requirements and communicating key compliance needs to design teams in the U.S. and overseas
Plan and execute field testing and product launch activities to ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards
Review whole product compliance, including literature, packaging, and rating labels to verify conformity with applicable agencies and regulatory requirements
Lead product quality investigations by analyzing customer complaints, identifying root causes, and coordinating with factories, engineering, legal, and agency teams to implement effective resolutions
Document and properly track product incidents and quality issues, ensuring proper reporting, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives
Leading cross-functional meetings, presenting findings, and facilitating collaborative problem-solving. Strong command of professional writing for compliance documentation, customer communications, and internal training materials, ensuring alignment and understanding across all levels of the organization

Required

Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field
Minimum of 8 years of industry experience in a similar role
Experience working with government agencies and conducting investigations in coordination with law firms and agencies such as CPSC, FDA, DOE, etc
Strong background in detailed component and system design, particularly within cooking appliances
Demonstrated expertise in conducting comprehensive risk assessments across product development and operational processes
Skilled in identifying potential hazards, evaluating risk severity and implementing mitigation strategies using industry-standard methodologies such as FMEA, Fault Tree Analysis, and Hazard Analysis
Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly and effectively to diverse audiences, including engineering teams, regulatory bodies, and non-technical stakeholders
Skilled in preparing detailed reports, regulatory documentation, and safety analyses with precision and clarity
Willingness to travel: up to 25% domestic and up to 15% international

Preferred

Master's degree
Preferred experience as a current or former member of AHAM, HVI, UL, or CSA working groups, with familiarity in cooking appliance design, test procedures, and standards
Experience with both gas and electric home cooking appliances is highly desirable. (i.e. Ranges, Wall Oven, Microwave Oven, etc.)
