Early Intervention Internship Position Description
Unbound Now is dedicated to fighting for the protection of the vulnerable and advocating for survivors of human trafficking. The Early Intervention intern will support at-risk youth by providing emotional support, case management services, and prevention education, while contributing to the development of the Early Intervention Program.

Responsibilities
Assist in replicating, enhancing, and conducting prevention-focused outreach with high-risk youth
Assist at-risk youth by meeting immediate physical needs - clothes, food, toiletries
Provide mentoring and/or family support for high-risk youth, including education about at-risk behavior, physical and emotional development needs, empowerment skills, including co-regulation skills, communication skills, safety, and boundaries
Providing case management that is carried out in a manner that is relationship-based, trauma-responsive, and client-centered
Support minors through addressing risk behaviors, coping, life skill building, psycho-education, and emotional support
Building and maintaining good relationships with organizations that provide services relevant to youth-at-risk
Creating, discussing, and updating safety plans with youth-at-risk
Maintaining compliance via visits, documentation, and other contacts
Participate in peer-to-peer learning
Collaborate with Early Intervention Specialists and prevention specialists at other Unbound locations to ensure project goals and timelines are achieved
Coordinate efforts with CSEY advocates to ensure any confirmed trafficking victims receive services
Assisting the Early Intervention Specialist with the youth’s support system team meeting
Recognize red flag behavior and report to the Director of Early Intervention
Report any/all suspicion of abuse or neglect to the Director of Early Intervention
Assists in developing the resource document by organizing the contacts and contacting the partner organizations to gather accurate information that guides advocates and Early Intervention Specialists
Qualification
Required
Pursuing a degree or a graduate degree with at least 60 hours of completion
Agree to and pass all required criminal background checks and child abuse registry checks before working with or having access to the confidential information of any clients
High level of emotional maturity and responsibility
Strong work ethic - consistent and reliable
Excellent organizational and administrative abilities
Commitment to excellence and professionalism in services provided
Excellent relational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Ability and willingness to maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information
Training and experience in survivor-centered, trauma-informed services
Ability to build trust and good working relationships with others
Appreciation of the need for cultural competency
Participate in ongoing training
Willingness to accept the direction of duties assigned by paid staff
The intern will complete the 40-hour pre-service training and risk management training before meeting in person with any clients
The intern will complete additional advocacy training throughout the internship
The intern will perform early intervention duties under the supervision of staff
The intern will complete assigned tasks within a given time frame
The intern will discuss professional development and ethical dilemmas during weekly supervision
The intern will maintain confidentiality of clients during and after the internship, in compliance with Unbound Now policies and state and federal laws, unless legally compelled otherwise
Intern will agree to abide by all Unbound Now policies and procedures, and comply with all applicable state and federal laws, including Unbound Now's Abuse Prevention and Response Policy
Arriving on time for all assigned shifts is essential
Commit to once-weekly in-person meetings with the supervisor
Participate in weekly team meetings/case staffing
