Data Architecture & Modeling Lead

The Data Architecture & Modeling Lead will be responsible for leading the design, development, and implementation of data models and architecture solutions, collaborating with cross-functional teams to optimize data management practices and ensure data integrity.

Responsibilities
Translate the enterprise modeling vision into actionable domain-level roadmaps and deliverables, ensuring alignment with business goals
Influence solution designs to adopt governed, domain-oriented data products and canonical definitions, driving consistency and quality
Advise product owners on modeling implications of new features and digital-transformation initiatives, ensuring seamless integration
Own the end-to-end development of conceptual, logical, and physical models for assigned domains, ensuring they meet business needs
Create design patterns that support batch, near-real-time, and event-driven data flows, optimizing performance and scalability
Ensure lineage, naming standards, and semantic consistency across tables, views, and streaming topics, maintaining data integrity
Convert models into physical DDL on Redshift, Iceberg, or other AWS-based storage technologies, validating performance and cost efficiency
Document models in the central repository and keep metadata continuously current, ensuring accessibility and usability
Stay current on trends in knowledge graphs, semantic layers, and AI-driven metadata enrichment, driving innovation
Embed data-quality, privacy, and security controls into model design, partnering with governance teams to enforce standards
Mentor and review work for junior modelers and data engineers, fostering best practices and skill growth
Facilitate workshops with business analysts, product managers, and engineering teams to refine requirements and iterate rapidly on prototypes
Provide authoritative guidance on modeling impacts during sprint planning, code reviews, and architecture boards, championing a culture of experimentation and continuous improvement
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field
7–10 years of experience in data modeling or data-architecture roles within cloud-native environments
Track record of designing production models that support BI, ML, or operational workloads at scale
Deep practical knowledge of entity-relationship modeling, dimensional design, and schema-on-read techniques
Strong SQL development skills and familiarity with performance-tuning for MPP databases
Ability to distill ambiguity into clear, well-structured data solutions that balance flexibility with governance
Excellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholder-management abilities
Self-starter who thrives in fast-paced, distributed, and matrixed teams
Mentorship experience for junior modelers and data engineers
Current knowledge of industry trends and best practices in data architecture
Preferred
An advanced degree or industry certification
Experience in retail, consumer-products, or e-commerce industries
