The Medical University of South Carolina is seeking a full-time Program Director for the Advanced Education in General Dentistry Residency Program (AEGD). The Program Director will provide clinical leadership, mentor residents, oversee curriculum development, and ensure compliance with accreditation standards.

Responsibilities

Providing clinical leadership, mentoring of residents and staff, and ensuring excellence in patient care

Continued development and implementation of the curriculum

Evaluation of program content

Establish structured mentorship programs and regular feedback mechanisms for residents

Oversight and evaluation of resident and faculty performance

Maintenance of residents’ education records

Application, interview, recruitment, and selection of residents

Develop strategic goals for the program

Perform regular assessment and performance appraisals

Provide feedback to each resident on a regular basis

Provide oversight of the instruction

Facilitating essential components of the curriculum in coordination with the Master of Science in Dentistry Program Director

Develop and implement weekly seminars in alignment with the CODA-approved curriculum

Leading any weekly learnings related to literature reviews and case conferences

Provides direction and oversight of resident schedules and caseloads

Serves as an attending faculty

Coordinates oversight by other attending faculty

Support for the Urgent Care Clinic and emergency services of the College

Ensuring a sufficient variety of cases to ensure compliance with CODA standards

Preparing residents for practice

Collaboration with the General Practice Residency Program Director, Predoctoral program, Nexton Clinic Director and WAMP Clinic Director, and other specialty care providers

Required

Applicants must possess a DMD, DDS, or equivalent degree and be eligible for licensure in South Carolina and obtain the license prior to starting in the position

Completion of General Practice Residency (GPR) Program or Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) Program to qualify as Program Director

Preferred

Knowledge and experience in digital dentistry
