Responsibilities
Incumbent will perform professional engineering duties/responsibilities that require primarily the application of knowledge of (1) the physical and engineering sciences and mathematics, (2) electronic phenomena, and (3) the principles, techniques, and practices of electronics engineering. The work pertains primarily to electronic circuits, circuit elements, equipment, systems, and associated phenomena concerned with electromagnetic or acoustical wave energy or electrical information for purposes such as communication, computation, sensing, control, measurement, and navigation

Degree: Engineering. To be acceptable, the program must: (1) lead to a bachelor's degree in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by ABET; or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics
Combination of education and experience -- college-level education, training, and/or technical experience that furnished (1) a thorough knowledge of the physical and mathematical sciences underlying engineering, and (2) a good understanding, both theoretical and practical, of the engineering sciences and techniques and their applications to one of the branches of engineering
Professional registration or licensure -- Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico
Written Test -- Evidence of having successfully passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) examination or any other written test required for professional registration by an engineering licensure board in the various States, the District of Columbia, Guam, and Puerto Rico
Specified academic courses -- Successful completion of at least 60 semester hours of courses in the physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences and that included the courses specified in the basic requirements under paragraph A
Related curriculum -- Successful completion of a curriculum leading to a bachelor's degree in an appropriate scientific field, e.g., engineering technology, physics, chemistry, architecture, computer science, mathematics, hydrology, or geology, may be accepted in lieu of a bachelor's degree in engineering, provided the applicant has had at least 1 year of professional engineering experience acquired under professional engineering supervision and guidance
FG-5 level you must meet Basic Requirements as stated above
FG-7 level in addition to the above Basic Requirements you must have 1 year of graduate-level education or superior academic achievement or at least 1-year of Specialized Experience equivalent to the FG-5 grade level
FG-9 level in addition to the above Basic Req. you must have 2 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree or master's or equivalent graduate degree; or at least 1-year of Specialized Experience equivalent to the FG-7 grade level
FG-11 level in addition to the above Basic Req. you must have 3 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree; or at least 1-year of Specialized Experience equivalent to the FG-9 grade level
FG-12 level in addition to the above Basic Req. you must demonstrate in your application you possess at least 1-year of Specialized Experience equivalent to the FG-11 grade level
FG-13 level in addition to the above Basic Req. you must demonstrate in your application you possess at least 1-year of Specialized Experience equivalent to the FG-12 grade level
FG-14 level in addition to the Basic Req. you must demonstrate in your application you possess at least 1-year of Specialized Experience equivalent to the FG-13 grade level
FG-15 level in addition to the Basic Req. you must demonstrate in your application you possess at least 1-year of Specialized Experience equivalent to the FG-14 grade level
Specialized Experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that are typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled
This position has a positive education requirement: Applicants must submit a copy of their college or university transcripts(s) and certificates by the closing date of announcement to verify qualifications
Schools must be accredited by an accrediting institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education
Foreign education must be evaluated by a private professional organization specializing in interpretation of foreign education credentials or an accredited U.S. educational institution in terms of equivalence to a degree acquired at an American college or university
