Occupational Therapist I - PRN - AAMC

The role involves conducting therapy evaluations, participating in departmental initiatives, and providing supervision and support to staff and students.

Responsibilities
Conducts Therapy evaluations and treatments using a variety of appropriate treatment techniques and documents according to established departmental policies and procedures
Participate in department or hospital initiative for the community as appropriate
Demonstrates the ability and required competencies to cross cover by evaluating and treating patients with a variety of diagnoses in various units
Participates in departmental process improvement initiatives (huddle, metrics,and innovative ideas)
Meets departmental productivity standards and completes productivity logs in a timely manner
Participates in quality and patient safety initiatives, engaging in excellent customer service practices, including but not limited to, following ICARE
Actively participates in interdisciplinary meetings, departmental in-service activities, evidence based journal article review, and/or AAMC-funded continuing education courses
Provides technical supervision, direction, and support to staff Therapist Assistants, Rehab Aides, students, and volunteers
Consults with and serves as a resource for physicians, nursing staff, and other clinicians to increase knowledge of therapy services
Demonstrates ability to use clinical decision-making skills to triage caseload and problem solve patient care issues
Functions as a therapy leader performing administrative tasks as needed (i.e. patient scheduling, completing predictive staffing matrix)
Qualification
Required
Bachelor of Science degree in Occupational Therapy
Current license to practice Occupational Therapy by the Maryland Board of Occupational Therapy Practice
Current American Heart Association Healthcare provider BLS Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification
Preferred
Acute care or related experience preferred; however, new graduates will be considered depending on current departmental staffing
