Machinist
USAJOBS is seeking a Machinist for the US Army Corps of Engineers, Huntington District, Regional Rivers Repair Fleet, located in Marietta, OH. Responsibilities
Receive work assignments in the form of work orders or oral instructions accompanied by blueprints, sketches, drawings, models of parts, or other work specifications
Interpret and apply sets and series of interrelated prints and drawings, to prepare supplementary sketches, and to calculate missing dimensions and tolerances
Independently determine the work procedures, machine tools and attachments to be used, and the sequence of machining operations to accomplish each job
Determine uncommon materials, dimensions, and tolerances
Apply advanced shop mathematics, including geometric and trigonometric formulas, in laying out work and setting up machine tools
Use any of the accepted trade methods and techniques and all conventional machine tools
Qualification
Required
Ability to do the work of a(n) Machinist without more than normal supervision
Ability to use hand tools for machine shop
Ability to use shop drawings
Knowledge of metals
Measurement and layout
Operation of machine tools
Technical practices (theoretical, precise, artistic)
Required to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds
Must possess and maintain a valid State motor vehicle operator's license
Required to complete a pre-appointment Physical
Required to complete a pre-appointment drug test
Must be able to obtain and maintain all Corps of Engineers licenses associated with this position, such as Dump Truck, Truck and Trailer, Crane, Forklift, and Construction Equipment
