Responsibilities
Under general direction, assists physician/surgeon during diagnostic and interventional peripheral and cardiovascular procedures or Electrophysiology procedures
In rotation with the multi-disciplinary team, performs the responsibilities of scrub, monitor, or circulate during surgical procedures
Must be available for on-call if required in designated area and respond within the designated time frame for emergency procedures
Educates the patient and/or patient’s family about the procedure before, during, and after the procedure
Provides instructions and information on post-procedure limitations and restrictions
Observes, evaluates, and reports changes in the patient’s condition to the RN or physician
Initiates emergency procedures and protocols as needed
Administers contrast media and medications within the scope of limitations and consistent with medication administration practices and policies
Performs a variety of testing to assist with diagnosis and treatment
Collects, labels, processes, stores, and transports specimens in accordance with procedures
Performs 12-lead EKGs, identifies cardiac rhythms, and recognizes lethal arrythmias
Documents care delivered in the patient’s medical record in accordance with policy and procedure for the department
Responsible for monitoring and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, quality standards, compliance activities, and policies and procedures
Provides support in the preparation, care, maintenance, and availability of cath lab or electrophysiology lab supplies and equipment
Troubleshoots various systems and devices
Performs other job functions as assigned or requested
Qualification
Required
Associate's Degree Respiratory Therapy
Associate's Degree Cardiovascular Technology
Associate's Degree Surgical Technology
Associate's Degree Surgical Assisting
1-3 years Cath Lab experience
7-9 years of cath lab work experience in lieu of graduating from formal program in Cardiovascular Technology
Proficient and certified in basic and advanced cardiac life support (ACLS)
Sound technical knowledge of cath lab or electrophysiology lab concepts, practices, and procedures
Ability to effectively relate and communicate with internal and external customers
Ability to organize multiple tasks and projects and maintain control of workflow

Certified Surgical First Assistant - National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting
Certified Surgical Technologist - National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting
Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist - Cardiovascular Credentialing International
Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist - Cardiovascular Credentialing International
Certified Respiratory Therapist - Arkansas Tennessee Board of Respiratory Care
