Certified Surgical Technologist
Akron Children's is seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist who is responsible for preparing the operating room and assisting the surgeon during surgical procedures. This role involves scrubbing on surgeries, maintaining supplies, and participating in patient care assessments.

Responsibilities
Responsible for scrubbing on all major and minor surgical procedures as assigned
Participates with patient assessments while planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care
Performs circulating duties under direct supervision of a Registered Nurse to provide care and safety to all patients
Responsible for maintaining operating room suite supplies, pulling procedures, assisting with continuing education, precepting, and orientation of all staff
Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care for the physical, psych/social, educational, and safety needs of the patients served regardless of age
Participates in various hospital activities as appropriate and as directed by the Manager

Qualification
Required
$7,000 Sign on bonus [taxable] available
Full Time 40 Hours/week
Sat & Sun 07-1530 + 1 - 8 hr. and 2 - 10hr shifts/week
Onsite
Certified surgical technologists are responsible for preparing the operating room, including but not limited to, the sterile field, setting up surgical equipment, supplies, etc
During surgery, the certified surgical technologists contribute to patient care by assisting the surgeon with instrumentation, supplies, specimens, and control of the sterile, surgical field
They are instrumental in preventing foreign retained objects
Responsible for scrubbing on all major and minor surgical procedures as assigned
Participates with patient assessments while planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care
Performs circulating duties under direct supervision of a Registered Nurse to provide care and safety to all patients
Responsible for maintaining operating room suite supplies, pulling procedures, assisting with continuing education, precepting, and orientation of all staff

Other duties as required
Proficiency in MS Office [Outlook, Excel, Word] or similar software
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
Graduate from an accredited Surgical Technologist program
Certification: Certified Surgical Technician (CST)
Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS)
Preferred
Experience in pediatric surgery
Experience working with all levels within an organization
Experience in healthcare
Years of relevant experience: 0 to 2 years
